Since 1997, the Placitas Home Tour has enchanted visitors and showcased some of New Mexico's finest builders. As fall blankets the rolling mesas of Placitas and the leaves begin to change, the Placitas Home Tour opens the doors of many custom homes to the public. Builders work all year to prepare their homes for the show and attendees can expect to see some of the most beautiful homes in New Mexico. This year, the tour features 5 custom homes and 1 remodel for hours of your enjoyment. You can expect to spend the better half of an afternoon on the tour. By stopping off at La Puerta Real Estate Services, LLC on the way into Placitas, attendees can pick up one of the Placitas Home Tour Guides, nibble on complimentary refreshments and head out to the homes fully prepared. Each year the coveted full-color Placitas Home Tour Guide is published and distributed. Area businesses look forward to advertising in the guide since over 5,000 people generally read it. This year’s Placitas Home Tour will be better than ever, featuring a new collection of beautiful homes, and a gorgeous tour guide. Mark your calendars…you won’t want to miss it!

About Placitas
Ask three Placitans what they like best about living in Placitas and you may get six different answers. One will say it is being so far from everything, another, being so close to everything — and both will be right.
For some it is the peacefulness, for others the proximity to hiking trails. Most will mention the perfect weather, four distinct seasons without harsh extremes. But almost everyone's answer will include something about the views. Many homes look north toward the hills and mesas, all the way to the Jemez range and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains north of Santa Fe.
Others face the mountain, that smooth yet imposing spine of the Sandias which covers with snow in the winter. Some homes get both views. In another pleasant paradox of Placitas life, these comforting views are always the same, and yet they change constantly thanks to the sun's evolving angles and the seasonal rebirth of high desert flowers and shrubs.

Placitas Appreciation Day
Appreciation Day is an annual event sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce to celebrate and share the unique sense of community that makes Placitas such a special place to live and work. The 2010 version was no exception!
